Alternate Chapels

Peace Speech Contest featuring student speeches and a Q&A time facilitated by George Pickens, will be held Monday at 4 p.m. in Frey 110.

Students are invited to join the Management and Business Department for their awards ceremony on Monday at 4:30 p.m. in Hostetter Chapel. Members of the department will be honored for their four years of work, and the event will also be used to consider the intersection of the Christian calling and God’s call for excellence.

The HDFS 283 Community Services class will be holding an interactive simulation for participants to experience living in a low-income situation and attempt to deal with poverty this Wednesday at 3:15 p.m. in Hostetter Chapel.

Don Larson, the founder and CEO of the Sunshine Nut Company, will be giving a special chapel presentation on his business model and how it aims to bring hope to others on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Kline 120.

Special Elective Chapel

Dr. Christopher Gehrz, editor of the book The Piestist Vision of Christian Higher Education: Forming Whole and Holy Persons, will be giving a special elective chapel talk on what it means to be a “Pietist college” this Thursday at 9:45 a.m. in Boyer 131.


Messiah’s Spring Dance Concert is scheduled for this week, with performances Monday (7:30 p.m.), Friday (7:30 p.m.) and Saturday (2:30 p.m.) in Climenhega’s Miller Theatre.

The Handbell Choir will hold a concert Monday at 8 p.m. in the High Center’s Recital Hall.

Grammy-award winning hip-hop artist Jon Bellion will be giving the final SAB B-Sides concert performance of the year this Wednesday at 9 p.m. in the Larsen Student Union. Details for the event can be found at the event Facebook page.

The Women’s Ensemble, Men’s Ensemble, and Chamber Singers will be performing their Spring Concert on Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the High Center’s Parmer Hall.

A special Opera Workshop will be held in the Poorman Blackbox Theatre on Thursday at 8 p.m.

Messiah’s annual Spring Fling dance will be held on Friday from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. in Hitchcock Arena. Tickets for the event are on sale at the ticket office and online, with the cost $12 for students and $15 for guests. DJ Kafui will play music for the first half of the night, with the ThreeJs providing tunes for the second segment.

The Jazz Ensemble will be having a show in Parmer Hall this Friday at 8 p.m.

The High Center’s Recital Hall will have two performances on Saturday, as Matthew Wood performs his student guitar recital at 1 p.m. and One College Ave. host a performance at 4 p.m.

The Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Winds will be performing this Saturday at 8 p.m. in the High Center’s Parmer Hall.

In Parmer Hall, the United Voices of Praise will perform on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Over in the Recital Hall of the High Center, there will be three performances on SundayKyle Kirkpatrick’s student cello recital at 4 p.m., Hethkenly Tercy’s student voice recital at 6 p.m. and Dan Umholtz’s student organ recital at 8 p.m.

Special Event

Minds Matter will be kicking off De-Stress Week this Thursday beginning at noon on the Eisenhower Lawn. They will be giving away coloring books and bubbles for students in mental preparation for the busy days of final exams.


Baseball will play their final home regular season game of the year against Penn-State Harrisburg Monday at 3:30 p.m. at the Starry baseball field.

Men’s tennis will open the Commonwealth Conference playoffs on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. on the Criste Courts in Grantham (Starry Sports Complex).

Men’s lacrosse begin the Commonwealth Conference playoffs by hosting Albright on Wednesday at 4 p.m. on the new lacrosse field.

The 2015 MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held this weekend in Grantham, beginning on Thursday and running through Saturday. Information on the event, including ticket pricing can be found at the included link.

Baseball, softball, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, men’s lacrosse, and women’s lacrosse will all be in conference tournament action this coming week and weekend. Stay tuned to GoMessiah.com for the latest news on their progress, as well as information on where and when each team is playing.
