Dark and mysterious, Son Lux’s sound has been compared to a post-rock Radiohead. However, his symphonic genius shines through in his combination of punk rock and techno beats.

Each song has its own style, from gloomy synth jam “Pyre” to delicate and soft “Enough of Our Machines.” Son Lux mixes simple, but powerful lyrics with perfectly orchestrated harmonics and haunting vocals.

Most recognized for his signature post-rock, techno-punk style, Son Lux is also acknowledged for his musical talent in commercials. He has also been featured in the soundtracks of hit movies such as Looper(2012), Don Jon (2013), and The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby (2014). Awarded NPR’s All Songs Considered“Best New Artist”in 2008, Son Lux has come a long way since then, performing at high end venues and working with many famous performers and producers.

Son Lux has collaborated with a wide variety of artists. He has worked with pop idol Lorde and Richard Parry of Arcade Fire. Along with rapper Serengeti and indie artist Sufjan Stevens, they created the alternative hip-hop group, Sisyphys. He has also collaborated with rappers Busdriver and Beans, as well as composers Nico Muhly and Caroline Shaw.

Since 2008, Son Lux has released two EPs and two LPs. Most notably, We Are Rising (2011)  was written and recorded in only 28 days.

He has recently performed at Carnegie Hall, played with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and worked with Serengeti, Sufjan Stevens, and world famous visual artist Jim Hodges on a retrospective of Hodges’work at the Walker Museum of Art in Minneapolis.

In 2014, he dropped an EP of redone songs from his album Lanterns (2013). At the end of the year, Son Lux signed with Glassnote Records, an important milestone in the artist’s career.

Currently on tour, Son Lux will perform at illustrious music festival SXSW 2015.
