“Incense” bringing a time of worship to Messiah tonight

With a busy final few weeks in store for Messiah students, several organizations are teaming up to bring a special evening of worship to the campus community.

The Student Chaplain Team, in conjunction with the Powerhouse Band, Kairos Band and Acclaimation Dance Ministry, will be hosting “Incense” tonight from 8-11 p.m. in Brubaker Auditorium.

“We just want to take this opportunity to offer ourselves up to God – like incense before him – before the weight of the end of the semester burdens us all in the coming weeks,” says Jonathan Fuller, Messiah’s Student Body Chaplain.

Incense is a yearly worship event that takes place in Brubaker in order to sustain a large gathering. Fuller says that students “should not expect a three-hour Powerhouse”, since there will be more than just Powerhouse’s normal music happening at this time of worship.

Reflection and prayer stations will be set up throughout the auditorium for students to use. In addition, there will be several different liturgical readings and prayers done during the evening.

“We hope students will join us in worship – whether through singing, praying, reflecting, or other practices we hope to facilitate – as we enter into God’s presence together,” Fuller adds.

Incense’s official Facebook event page can be found here.
