Winter weather, especially the weather the northeast has recently gotten hit with, makes the campus atmosphere seem slightly dreary and lackluster. A simple solution to dark winter days is a pop of color in your normal outfit routine!

Color is pleasing to the eye and something typically shied away from until spring time hits again. However, these Messiah students are changing up that trend and having fun with color right now! It is true that black is the perfect go-to color during dismal winter months, but even black wants a color companion every now and then.

fashionwinter1By adding a brightly colored scarf to her ensemble, sophomore Hadlee Coker shows how to accurately accessorize by introducing a splash of color to campus’s rather dull canvas. Coker’s scarf is quite versatile: it looks good whether her coat is zipped up or not.

fashionwinter2In an alternative example, senior Dylan Thomas shows that you can make a business casual look stand out with an extra hint of color. By wearing a faded burgundy shirt, Thomas achieves a professional look while changing up the usual neutral colors one would expect. Choose to be bold in your clothing choices as well as in your daily endeavors.

fashionwinter3With a more subtle approach to color, senior Ally Coonradt shows how you can include color into your wardrobe even if you prefer to tone it down. For example, rather than wearing a black pair of tights, Coonradt chose to switch things up and wear plum colored tights instead. This quirky color helps to break out of the color scheme and make her outfit more original.

Campus can become tiresome as all the colors begin to fade into one, but like a fresh layering of snow, a fresh new pop of color can help perk students’ spirits as they continue throughout their days. Adding color to your outfit, while an easy thing to do, is a good way to make sure that people stop to take a second look at the brilliance before them.

I like her style in first image, black leggings with brown boots and that red scarf, look just awesome for winter.
