Fashion Column: Pictures Worth Printing

What is fashion without the ability to play around with patterns and prints, proving that solid colors are only fun for so long? The weather this time of year has not quite accepted the changing of seasons, so let’s play around with our colors, like the weather’s been playing with our minds!

From basic color schemes to more vibrant options, there is certainly never a dull moment when adding a printed piece to your outfit for the day. Take a hint from this week’s fashion-forward students and see how prints helped to strengthen their wardrobe choices.

fashionprint1Sophomore Erin Zakin flaunts her floral print in the form of a colorful kimono. Prints contribute a focal point to any outfit, whether chosen to be done boldly or more delicately. Zakin’s choice of colors represents a sophisticated bolder approach, done well while paired alongside darker solid colors.

Be careful not to be too overwhelming in your choices of prints, which can sometimes happens when pairing prints with other prints. However, louder prints are not always overwhelming, as demonstrated well by Zakin.

fashionprint2Prints can also add a touch of taste to your outfit while using more neutral toned colors as shown by junior Diana Kleinmanns. The simplistic print of her white and dark-gray top helps to break up the black pieces, adding a flattering and easy-to-replicate color scheme.

Sometimes solid colors paired together can appear bland and hard to pull apart; when done right, prints basically do the fashion for you!

fashionprint3Simple prints make not so simple statements. I like to think that patterns add character to any outfit and can be a good way to exemplify your personality through a fashion statement. Junior Adam Stern flaunts a duck print button down that is both funny and fashionable.

Prints guarantee a unique wardrobe choice on any given day; pair your prints well and pair them often!
