After four days of diminished room temperatures and other restrictions due to low incoming supplies of propane gas, Messiah’s campus Operations have announced that the restrictions will be lifted this Sunday with normal campus operations set to resume.

The restrictions in propane usage had been announced Tuesday after several days of cold weather in the Northeast. These changes are in place through 11 p.m. tomorrow evening.

According to an email Friday afternoon from Kathie Shafer, Vice President of Operations, the facility service team has been able to obtain propane from an additional vendor. Messiah’s contracted vendor for propane has also confirmed that normal deliveries will be able to resume.

Academic and administrative buildings will see temperatures return to normal settings by Monday, meaning that employees must return to the normal professional dress code policy. Residence hall temperatures will also begin returning to normal this weekend, with one to two days expected for the temperatures to reach the regular 70-degree level.

The request for shower conservation will also end, though the email added that the college “always encourages ongoing conservation efforts” with regards to water and hot water usage.

The Larsen Student Union will resume its normal hours beginning Sunday, with hot food items back on the menu.

Showers in the Sollenberger Sports Center will be available once again for students and employees, and the swimming pool temperature will be increased this weekend ahead of reopening on Monday.

Climenhega Homestead and the McBeth Advancement Center will also both reopen on Monday.
